What is a Men’s Shed?
Our Men’s Shed is more than a workshop – it is a safe place to gather, drink coffee, tinker, work on community projects, socialize and make friends.
A Men’s Shed provides a safe and friendly environment where men can work on meaningful projects. Men work at their own pace, in their own time, in the company of other men. It’s a place where you can learn or teach new skills and find new opportunities and interests while making new friends.
A Shed offers men an alternate way to reach out to avoid ‘isolation’ while giving back to society. No matter what your background, if you are willing to share your expertise, be part of a group of guys who are looking to keep busy and make connections with your peers, you are welcome.
What do Men do in a Men’s Shed
The members of our Men’s Shed determine the activities of the group. Across the world, Men’s Shed have focused on woodworking, metalwork, furniture restoration, painting, etc. but they are more than just a workshop. We get together for social activities – everything from going hiking to getting together to play cards. Have an idea for our Shed? We want to hear about it!
Sheds are also often involved in giving back to the community with projects like:
- fundraising,
- building projects like community benches and raised garden beds,
- repairs or assisting isolated seniors,
- projects for non-profit organizations, schools, etc.
- and more.

What they are saying about Men Sheds
“One fellow said ‘I’m having trouble with my well at the lake and there were four guys who told him how to fix it.”
“I had a really hard time. This place became a cushion.”
“Retirement has been a tough adjustment. I went from working 60 hours a week to now I am struggling to find ways to keep busy. The group has been a great way for me to get out and engage with others my own age. Sometimes we do stuff outside my comfort zone but that’s not a bad thing. I really look forward to meeting each week.”
“My wife told me about the group and bugged me for weeks to go check things out. When I finally did attend a meeting I was pleasantly surprised. Now I try to go every week”
“My dad has been really lonely since my mom passed. We have been trying to find a way to get him out but he wasn’t really interested. I am so happy we found this group”
